THE MAN BEHIND THE BOOT
The year was 1880 when Sam Lucchese Sr. and his brothers came to America. Although he was just 17 years old, the young Lucchese had a vision for a career in boot making, and just three years later, Lucchese Boot Company was established in San Antonio, Texas. The family's dedication to its craft and to its customers kept the business alive, but it wasn't until the early 1960s when the founder's grandson and namesake decided to rethink the art of boot making.
Many say it was Sam Lucchese, Jr.'s fascination with the human foot that inspired him to create a boot design that fit like no other. Although producing this exclusive design demanded more time and more skill, Lucchese boots quickly became the boot of choice by presidents and kings, film legends and Wall Street moguls.
The world has never known a finer more knowledgeable craftsman than Sam Lucchese. His comprehensive understanding of the human foot and its function played a significant role in his family company. Lucchese's unique boot last design, which he called the "twisted cone last," remains the only one of its kind in boot making today and is what makes the name "Lucchese" synonymous with quality, comfort and style.
For those who appreciate the finer things in life--nothing else compares to a pair of Lucchese boots.
THE MAKING OF A PERFECT BOOT
To this day, every pair of Lucchese boots is built by hand by master boot craftsmen at the Lucchese factory in El Paso, Texas, U.S.A.! From fit to finish, every person involved in each of the 32 of steps it takes to craft a Lucchese boot receives extensive training in the art of boot making. This is the only way to ensure that every pair of Lucchese boots live up to the standards set by Sam Lucchese.
Lucchese's original design and meticulous construction are the reasons that no other boot fits the human foot like a Lucchese. Ever pair of Lucchese boots begins with the careful selection and cutting of the finest grade of leathers or exotic skins such as ostrich, crocodile, and alligator. Those skins are then assembled by hand and stretched over the exclusive twisted-cone last that is specifically designed to mimic the shape and contour of the human foot.
From there, it is the little touches such as the hand-driven lemon wood pegs in Lucchese Classics and the meticulous finishing that goes into every pair of Lucchese boots that makes this labor of love the ultimate in boot making artistry.
Whether it's the modern takes on the classic styles of the Lucchese 1883 collection, or horsemen-inspired Ropers and Cowboy styles of the Lucchese 2000 collection, all Lucchese boots bear the traditional hallmarks of handcrafted boots and a century-long commitment to craftsmanship and quality.
Lucchese boot designs may demand more money, time and skill, but when you slip your foot into a Lucchese boot, you'll know why they insist on only the finest.
